Manually Installing The PLEXUS Driver
When Windows indicates that the hardware driver has not been installed correctly, please manually update the driver.
Windows Vista / Windows 7
In Windows, click 'Start' > 'Control Panel' > 'System and Security' (or just 'System') > 'Device Manager'. Right-click on 'Unknown device' in the section 'Other devices' and choose 'Update Driver Software…'. Then, navigate to the driver location on your harddisk:
'C:\Program Files (x86)\MADRIX3\madrixusbdriver\plexus\windows'
Windows 8 / Windows 8.1
• | On the start screen "Start" (Windows Style UI, Tiles), click on "Desktop" to go to the Desktop (keyboard shortcut: Windows key). Navigate with the mouse to the upper, right corner until another menu is shown and overlaid (keyboard shortcut: Windows + I). Click on "Settings" > "Control Panel" (a new window will open). Click on "Hardware and Sound" > "Device Manager" (another window will open). Right-click on 'Unknown device' in the section 'Other devices' and choose 'Update Driver Software…'. Then, navigate to the driver location on your harddisk:
'C:\Program Files (x86)\MADRIX3\madrixusbdriver\plexus\windows' |
Important Note
If new drivers and a new firmware are available for the MADRIX PLEXUS, please always update the firmware first and the drivers second!
Hardware Model/Type
The manufacturer may update the hardware design of the device for new units. Please note the following:
• | Hardware model V1.6 ('Model: PLEXUS V1.6') can be updated using firmware version 1.07.4369 or higher. |
• | Hardware model V1.7 ('Model: PLEXUS V1.7') requires at least firmware version 1.06.4260 or higher! Please do not use a previous version. |
Tips
This section includes various scenarios to help you trouble shoot when problems occur.
• | The device has stopped sending DMX data!
Please navigate to the PLEXUS menu 'Tools' > 'Freeze' and check if 'Running' is displayed. |
• | The LEDs are not showing any effects!
Please check if the Intensity is set correctly. An Intensity of 0% will leave the LEDs black. Navigate to the PLEXUS menu 'Stand-Alone' > 'Speed/Intensity'. |
• | The Timers are configured correctly in my PLEXUS Configuration. But still they are not working on the device!
Please go to the PLEXUS menu 'Settings' > 'Device'. Set 'Timers' to 'Enabled'. |
• | The Ports are configured correctly in my PLEXUS Configuration. But still they are not working on the device!
Please go to the PLEXUS menu 'Settings' > 'Device'. Set 'Ports' to 'Enabled'. |
• | The PLEXUS shows up in the Windows Device Manager. But MADRIX is not able to find the device!
1) Please check if USB drivers are enabled in MADRIX in the MADRIX Options. 2) Please update the drivers of the device as described above. This might be necessary after a firmware update. |
• | I see the notice 'Invalid Device' in the PLEXUS Configuration window!
Please make sure your PLEXUS device is connected to your computer. Then, search again for devices in the PLEXUS Configuration window. |
• | My LEDs do not show the lighting effects correctly!
Please go to the PLEXUS menu 'Settings' > 'DMX'. Set 'DMX 1', 'DMX 2', 'Art-Net 1', 'Art-Net 2' to 'On' and test again. |
Standby Mode
The MADRIX PLEXUS may display 'STANDBY'. If the MADRIX PLEXUS is in standby mode, the device does not receive enough power from the power supply in use or the USB port. Possibly the computer to which the device is connected might simply be in standby mode, too.
Exception-Trace
Should an error occur on the device (an unlikely event), the so-called Exception-Trace will be displayed on the PLEXUS display. It functions as an error message to be analyzed by the manufacturer.
If such an Exception-Trace occurs, please make a picture of it and send the picture to your dealer or the manufacturer. Thank you!
MADRIX PLEXUS Updater (Extra Tool)
Along with MADRIX a separate tool for the MADRIX PLEXUS is provided, called 'MADRIX PLEXUS Updater'.
You can use this tool to update the firmware or to reset the device to its factory default settings.
For more information, see MADRIX PLEXUS Updater (Extra Tool).
Hard Reset
Important Information
The following instructions is to be seen with great caution!
It is only included for your information until you might need it.
Perform a hard reset only when really needed!
There are two button combinations in order to perform hard resets.
A) Reset To Factory Defaults
You may reset your device to factory default settings. That means the original settings will be restored.
Step 1) Disconnect your device from USB/Power. (The device needs to be turned off.)
Step 2) Depending on your display rotation, press and hold OK and DOWN at the same time. (Continue to hold the two buttons.)
Step 3) While pressing the two buttons, connect USB/Power again.
Step 4) Depending on your display rotation, press UP to perform a hard reset.
(Please try both directions, UP and DOWN, due to the possible display rotation should the brightness of the display be too dark.)
B) Load Bootloader
You may reboot your device using the integrated bootloader to reinstall the PLEXUS firmware. This might be useful if the LCD graphics display (the PLEXUS menus) have stopped working and if you cannot select a different menu anymore, for example.
Step 1) Disconnect your device from USB/Power. (The device needs to be turned off.)
Step 2) Press and hold OK and LEFT and UP at the same time. (Continue to hold the three buttons.)
Step 3) While pressing the three buttons, connect USB/Power again.
Step 4) The bootloader is now loading.
Step 5) You may install the PLEXUS firmware again using the external tool MADRIX PLEXUS Updater.
